Dubai Center for Special Needs
At Dubai Center for Special Needs, we have always held strong to our ideals, our beliefs and our mission. Our management and staff seek to improve the quality of life of people with special needs of all ages and their families by:
1. Promoting high-quality, effective community-based programs and social support services to individuals and their families.
2. Promoting the prevention of disabilities through training, public awareness and services.
3. Providing advocacy, inter-disciplinary training, technical assistance and information dissemination to accomplish the aims given above.
4. Promoting their independence, productivity, inclusion, empowerment and social participation in integrated community settings.
Under the guidance of Governors, the Director (Dr. Mahshid Salehi), a qualified Child & Family Psychologist, who personally tends to the administration of the Center and the running of both therapy departments and the educational programs, manages the Center on a day-to-day basis. The Director is responsible for setting the curriculam and programs in line with the latest internationally approved special education standards and guidelines.
The Center aim is not only to provide the best possible education to individuals with special needs, but also to prove that it can and should be done. The survival of the Center and the welfare of the students depend on the staff members being highly qualified and dedicated to doing a good job. It is important that all staff and parents actively encourage a positive approach to the education of people with special needs.
Individual programs, planned by the Multi-Disciplinary Team, seek to fulfill the objectives set for each student and are reviewed regularly. The extent to which the therapy staffs are involved depends on the individual needs of the student.
